Fresh Soup Portions Can Help Take the Strain on Delivered Meals Services – Real Soup Co.

November 7, 2016

The Real Soup Company is using the forthcoming Meals on Wheels Week (7th-11th November, 2016) to highlight the vital importance of delivered meals services throughout the UK and the part its new soup format is playing in providing both a convenient lunch or hot evening meal for service users.

New 380g single-serve fresh soup pots from The Real Soup Company offer delivered meals services a convenient, nutritious and warming meal that users, many of whom are not in a position to cook for themselves, can create in minutes.

Delivered at lunch, the generously sized pots are also being employed as an evening meal by many users, meaning, in certain cases, that the strain on the service is lessened, helping councils prioritise evening visits for those who need them the most.

Daniel Head, Business Development Manager, Real Soup Company, says: “National Meals on Wheels week is a time where we can bang the drum for a service which does so much for vulnerable people in our society, helping them retain independence and dignity. Budgetary cuts introduced in 2014 mean the need to preserve the service has become all the more vital.

“Our newly introduced pots have been helping councils offer an easy-to-prepare and easy- to-eat, warming option at dinner which, in some cases, can negate the need for a second daily visit.  Of course, face to face interaction is a vital part of the service, but this is giving councils the option to manage and prioritise user need on a given day.”   trscs-dan-head-with-the-monmouth-delivered-meals-team-resized_0_0.png

The Real Soup Company has recently been working with Monmouthshire County Council which delivers around 2,000 meals per month to people who need a little extra support at home. Catering Manager and Welsh Regional Chair of the NACC (National Association of Care Caterers), Pauline Batty, said of the partnership: “The food we’re serving has to be of a high quality in terms of nutritional content and must also conform to strict food and allergen legislation. The Real Soup Company proposition fits the bill perfectly – their fresh soups are a nutritious and delicious snack or meal option at any time of the day.”

National Meals on Wheels Week is organised by the National Association of Care Catering (NACC). For more information on how to get involved visit:
